Discrimination or not? What do you think?

So last night I had a odd experience with a stranger. I'll let you decide what you think of the situation.
.
I was out with some friends having a casual get together, when this guy comes outta nowhere and interrupts our table.
.
We all thought he was telling us it was last orders or something like that. But then he turns to me and says:
.
'I just wanted to say people like you make me feel so lucky'
.
Then he grabbed me and kissed my head.
.
Now for me I'm unfortunately used to this situation and Ive learnt the best thing to do is not engage the person and it's over with quickly.
.
My girlfriend however called him a twat as he walked away ?
.
Now I think he thought he had good intentions but he definitely worded it wrong ?? he might as well have said 'i'm glad I'm not disabled like you'
.
Personally I didn't like the situation and I felt uncomfortable after and I'm fairly thick skinned. I'm actually glad he said it to me and not someone who's confidence would be ruined by a comment like that.
.
It took quite a bit of effort to not say anything back but it helped move the situation along quicker.
.
Now if you're reading this and don't think you should say anything to a disabled person because you might offend them that's not how you should approach the situation.
.
Just remember we are normal humans too.
.
I feel I could talk more about this so let's have a conversation below. What do you think of this situation and how would you have handled it?

Here is something worth celebrating that you might not see in the mainstream media. Team GB are pretty good at wheelchair basketball with gold and silver from the World Championships!!
Considering the usual lack of resources and the sport's general low profile, beating the USA at anything is a real achievement.
It is a fully inclusive sport and you don't need a disability to play so all the family can get involved. It is an easy sport to play and a very difficult one to master so what are you waiting for? Get involved... ... See more

Fashion! With ASOS and Tommy Hilfiger both creating clothing lines specifically for disabilities and River Island running a campaign earlier this year called “Ditch The Label” that incorporates disability into their anti-bullying campaign, it indicates a potential shift in attitude.

This week we received a request that could help further this.

A student from Nottingham Trent University is currently designing on-trend clothing for people with physical disabilities, creating inclusive fashion garments for people aged between 18 and 30.

She is looking for help and advice from our customer base by way of questionnaire – using your experiences, preferences and input to create something that will allow for true self-expression and inclusion into the world of fashion.

Some sound advice for this sunny weather. Regardless of the sport that you play and even if you don't play a sport, stay hydrated ?

Here is some sound NHS advice on avoiding dehydration & staying hydrated in the current weather. This is particular relevant if you have an older member of the family or an elderly neighbour. Why not call in for a cuppa and a chat just to make sure everything is ok?
